windows XP Update KB896256 v4 – perbaikan power management dan meningkatkan performa prosesor multicore

sedikit perbaikan dari posting ku yang sebelumnya – meningkatkan performa core 2 duo pada laptop – setelah aku cek2 lagi secara spesifik masing2 update yang aku install, ternyata update yang bersangkutan memang tidak hanya berfungsi pada core 2 duo pada laptop saja, tapi core 2 duo atau prosesor sejenis yang memiliki fitur power management (pengaturan daya sesuai dengan beban – untuk menghemat energi) dan dilengkapi dengan multicore (dual core – atao bahkan 4 core).
update yang bersangkutan adalah KB896256 v4, mengingat pentingnya update ini untuk sistem dengan power management dan multicore, aku bilang wajib deh buat pengguna multicore, terutama yang pake laptop tuh.

dari pengalaman pribadiku sendiri (bisa dibaca di meningkatkan performa core 2 duo pada laptop), setelah aku install ulang windows XP, sebelum update, erasa banget game2ku ko’ ngga selancar sebelumnya, keliatan banget bedanya. setelah update baru kerasa performa dual core laptoku yang sesungguhnya. power managementnya lebih bagus dan performa bisa maksimal.

Windows XP SP2 is required on computers that have multiple CPUs that support ACPI processor performance states. This requirement includes computers that support the following items:
• Multiple physical sockets
• Multiple-core designs
• Multiple logical threads, such as Intel hyper-threading technology

Because Windows XP was not originally designed to support performance states on multiprocessor configurations, changes are required to correctly realize this support on multiprocessor systems. Windows XP Service Pack 2 includes the required changes to the kernel power manager. • A possible decrease in performance on single-threaded workloads when processor performance states are using demand-based switching.

• ACPI C-state promotion and demotion issues in the kernel power manager.

Meningkatkan Kinerja Prosesor Core 2 Duo Pada Laptop

kemaren malam, coba2 maen no$gba lagi di lapie yang habis install ulang OS. ehm.. kaget bukan maen, ko’ jadi lambat gini seh laptopku… napa yah…. game3 3D NDS yang biasa lancar sekarang tersendat-sendat, bahkan video intro rune factory pun nyendat TT_TT coba cek pake CPU-Z untuk liat core saat nge-game, meski step u core udah lumayan, ternyata cpu-ku sering stuck di 1000Mhz ampon meski kadang2 emang core speed naek karen abeban, tapi tetep sering ngga di full/max core.. emang banget, jangan2 ini masalahnya. ehm.. lalu ku ingat2, setting kompie lama. napa ako’ bisa cepet, pikiran awal mau download acer empowering buat lappie, biar bisa ngatur core full speed teros. akhirnya download deh..

di sela-sela download coba install apikasi yang biasa aku pakai di kompie lama, XP Smoker, langsung auto tune biar maksimal, abis gitu sekalian update windows XP pake autopatcher *sampe ketiduran pula ha5x

abis startup lagi, wuss… coba maen NDS lagi, loh… lacar lagi :D buak CPU-Z sekarang step up core kayaknya jadi lebih baek, pada saat maen NDS core hampir selalu full multiplier, jalan di 1.67Ghz. game2 3D NDS lancar2 hampir 2x kecepatan semula.
